What is a block-mount?
Block mounting, also called plaque-mounting,  is the process of mounting a print to a 3/8″ block of MDF board, sealing the surface with a UV protective laminate, and applying a beveled edge in your choice of color. The end result is a simple, cost-effective, clean looking piece of decor art that is ready to hang. Recessed hanging channels on the back allow the blockmounts to sit flush to the wall for very tidy presentation.

Kick it up a notch.
For a more sophisticated look, block-mounts can be framed in standard or “float” frames. It’s a high-end look that won’t break the bank. The matte laminated surface doesn’t need glass, which completely eliminates glare.

To block-mount or not?
Block-mounting is perfect for photographs, posters or any kind of decor art, but it is not recommended for valuable, irreplaceable, or conservation display pieces. If you really want your image to last, conservation framing is the best option. If weight is a factor mounting to other materials, such as Gator board, may be preferable, especially for larger displays. Tell us about your project & we’ll help ensure you get the right option.
